Five Acres, a longstanding Southern California nonprofit with more than a century of service in providing children and families in crisis with a system to support their well-being, recently hired Jennifer Berger as chief advancement officer. In her new role, Berger leads the fundraising, marketing and communications efforts to help further the organization toward its mission of providing safety, wellbeing and permanency to more than 6,500 children and families in crisis each year.
“Jennifer has a proven track record for implementing strategic activities that achieve results above the expected goal,” said Chanel Boutakidis, CEO of Five Acres. “We are delighted to have Jennifer as the newest addition to the leadership team and know her extensive background and experience will be a great asset for our organization.”
A seasoned nonprofit leader with nearly 20 years of fundraising, program management, board development and organizational leadership experience, Berger assumed her duties on Nov. 4.
Most recently, Berger was director of development, outreach & education at the Pasadena Playhouse, where she successfully managed the theater’s fundraising activities. Berger has a comprehensive professional background developing and overseeing successful fundraising and development initiatives. Berger also previously worked with Morris & Berger as a nonprofit executive search consultant.

Berger holds a master’s in public administration with an emphasis in nonprofit management from the University of Southern California. She is an active community volunteer serving as education chair of the Association of Fundraising Professions, Greater Los Angeles Chapter and is a board member of the Student Philanthropists Advancing Real Change.
