Following the submission, four companies were shortlisted for consideration and tension mounted at PathXL as we awaited the decision. In August 2013 the ESP made the announcement that PathXL had been selected as the winning bid.

'PathXL was chosen as the company was capable of providing a technologically advanced virtual microscopy platform that could be optimally integrated onto the ECP e-learning portal under development.

An additional element has been the mutually profitable working relationship that has developed over time through the Europals project and in which PathXL has proven to be capable of responding efficiently and effectively to their client's needs.

PathXL will allow the ESP to continue to provide the ECP slide seminars at high quality online, and to optimally exploit virtual microscopy as an educational tool and proficiency testing instrument.'
