Livestock Water Recycling, Inc. (LWR) is pleased to announce that it has installed its first manure treatment system in Michigan at Ryzebol Dairy. Agriculture is Michigan’s 2nd largest industry, the state ranks 6th in the US for licensed herds according to the USDA. This Bailey, MI dairy is home to 3,000 cows that produce approximately 100,000 gallons of liquid manure each day. LWR’s technology will recycle clean water and concentrate valuable nutrients from the manure for reuse at the farm. This will reduce manure handling costs, and allow precision application of valuable nutrients as needed.
Ryzebol Dairy uses sand bedding for its cows; approximately 95% of the sand is recaptured using a sand separator. The remaining liquid manure is processed in LWR’s system which is installed downstream of the separator. The small system size allows for easy on-site installation. With a reduction in odor due to immediate manure processing with the LWR system it makes for a more pleasant environment for workers. Case Ryzebol is ‘excited that his mom will finally be able to sleep with the windows open!’
LWR’s patented technology employs a chemical and mechanical process. The system is fully-automated and is designed to continuously treat manure which will alleviate storage and hauling issues. The result is solid nutrient and clean water, Ryzebol dairy will put this water to good use in its irrigation. The nutrients are an excellent fertilizer rich in phosphorus, ammonia, organic nitrogen and potassium.
LWR (livestockwaterrecycling.com) has commercial units installed and operating throughout Canada and the U.S. The company has over twenty years of experience building and installing groundwater and wastewater treatment systems.Ross Thurston, President of LWR says, ‘the treatment of livestock manure in an environmentally sustainable manner will give operations the opportunity to expand while focusing on their core competencies of milk and animal production.’
