The university and its IT partner Ciber, a Platinum level member of Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN), have gone live with an upgrade to Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1.
Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1 handles all of UTPA’s financial and HR payroll applications such as accounts receivable, cash management and time entry for faculty and staff operations. “Our upgrade to Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1 came at an important time for UTPA,” said Jeff Graham, chief information officer at UTPA. “This software will enable us to save time, reduce costs and gather data for important decisions while we work to keep pace with rapid changes at the forefront of higher education.”
Earlier this year, a merger between UTPA and the University of Texas at Brownsville was approved by the Texas state government, along with plans for the combined universities to create a medical school. This will boost UTPA’s student population, which is currently around 20,000, by approximately 50 percent. Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1 will serve a vital role in integrating the two schools by providing one intuitive financial and HR payroll platform.
Along with upgrading Oracle E-Business Suite at UTPA, Ciber also upgraded databases and migrated some of the interfaces. “We had a great team of consultants working with UTPA, and we are thrilled to see that our relationship continues to result in successful implementations,” said Mike Dillon, Ciber vice president and Oracle practice leader.
