As leaders of the pain management community in Charleston, South Carolina, Pain Specialists of Charleston is proud to announce that Walter Schuyler MD has successfully passed his Pain Medicine Boards.
With this certification, Dr. Schuyler becomes the second Pain Specialists of Charleston physician to be double Board Certified in Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. Medical Director and Founder, Edward M. Tavel, Jr. MD is also double board certified in both Anesthesia and Pain Medicine.
Dr. Schuyler received his medical degree from the University of Vermont and then completed an Internal Medicine Internship and Anesthesia Residency at Maine Medical Center. Following residency, Dr. Schuyler was accepted into the prestigious Fellowship programs at Northwestern University where he completed a year-long Fellowship in Multidisciplinary Interventional Pain Medicine. He is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the American Pain Society and the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.
Dr. Schuyler joined the Pain Specialists of Charleston team in July of 2013 and has quickly established a strong and reputable presence in the Charleston medical community. Dr. Schuyler’s clinical focus is interventional pain medicine and treats patients with a variety of non-surgical procedures including steroid injections, sympathetic blocks, medial branch blocks, Radiofrequency Ablation/Rhizotomy, Spinal Cord Stimulation Trials, etc. In addition to caring for the broader pain needs of the Lowcountry, Dr. Schuyler is particularly interested in treating the unique and often complex pain diagnoses faced by members of the military.
