The 63 kV transmission line between the regions Ségou and Niono was completed just a few weeks ago. Lahmeyer International was active in the project by order of Energie du Mali SA.

In addition to the new 63 kV line, crossing the Niger River near Markala, three new substations were built. Another 33 kV line has been constructed in order to connect the Markala substation and the local distribution network of the town. This line passes the Markala dam bridge as an insulated cable over a length of one kilometre.

Together with local engineers, experts for transmission lines, substations, secondary equipment, and transformer stations formed the competent Lahmeyer team. The client relied on their technical assistance and entrusted them with project services through to commissioning. In this way, the experts reviewed and approved studies, technical documentations and contractors’ invoices. They additionally carried out material site acceptance as well as factory acceptance tests, and supervised construction. Progress reporting and site tests also fell within their tasks.
