Nearly a year after the release of John Keenan’s eclectic hip hop album “Where I Went Wrong” the dvd version of the album is available November 1st, 2013. The DVD features the creation of the album with four behind the scenes episodes and the journey from a halfway house to John’s first independent living situation in over four years.
The “Where I Went Wrong DVD” released by indie film company Half Square Films features comedic skits, commercials and six HD music videos from the album as well as bloopers and interviews. “The DVD was harder to make than the album”, Keenan said,“because I’m not a great video editor.” Guitarist Scott Martz and brother Mark Keenan are also featured in the making of the album along with guest appearances from Mike Game and Kanzaz Cheifa.
The "Where I Went Wrong" album, which features guests such as Irv Da Phenom and cousin Tyler Keenan, was entirely produced by Keenan with the help of Scott Martz. "Scott is a rock guy and I'm a hip hop guy, we seemed to meet in the middle somewhere" Keenan said. "This DVD is really just a bunch of guys making cool music and trying to stay sober and clean."
Much of the content was shot while Keenan and Martz were living in a home for recovering addicts and alcoholics. The Where I Went Wrong album was complete just after moving to his own apartment and was released on November 27, 2012 on his indie label Full Circle Entertainment in Wichita, Kansas.
The "Where I Went Wrong' album is inspired by many genres including country, funk, jazz and even classical. "We never wanted to just make one type of music and have continued to try and offer the whole spectrum of genres on our releases" says Keenan,"it does make the projects much harder to market but we don't really care, we're not into following trends or riding the bandwagon, cool music is cool music."
Hardcopies of the DVD as well as “Where I Went Wrong” album are available through the official Full Circle Entertainment's official website.
