Ciber will deploy Oracle’s PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Oracle’s PeopleSoft Enterprise Portal 9.0 and business intelligence capability when replacing NYIT’s existing Datatel system.
With more than 13,000 students at domestic and international campuses and online, NYIT began this initiative to improve delivery of services and workflow through a service-oriented architecture (SOA) and Web-enabled functionality. Working closely with the university’s Office of Information Technology and Infrastructure in this large and complex IT engagement, Ciber will replace NYIT’s outdated applications and mainframe hardware with a comprehensive suite of applications for student records, student financials, financial aid, academic advising and more. Ciber also will support security for university and student data.
“We selected Ciber as our implementation partner because of its considerable expertise with higher education IT projects and Oracle applications,” said Dr. Niyazi Bodur, NYIT vice president for Information Technology and Infrastructure. “We trust Ciber to meet the technological complexities of our systems and implement a solution that will work for NYIT worldwide.”
Ciber is dedicating a team of senior-level, higher education IT consultants, including some from a local, New York-based office, to the project. While implementing the software, Ciber will work closely with the university to develop the SOA roadmap and provide recommendations for governance, processes and procedures associated with the flow of information across the institution.
“This engagement builds on our unique experience incorporating Oracle’s PeopleSoft solutions to universities across North America,” said Mike Dillon, Ciber vice president and Oracle practice leader. “We believe NYIT will see a substantial return on its technology investments and achieve its goal of providing a top-notch experience for its students across the globe.”
A Platinum level member of Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN), Ciber has helped more than 1,000 clients in more than 2,000 separate engagements leverage their Oracle applications to improve business processes, reduce costs and provide support for management decision-making. In the higher education sector, Ciber has implemented applications at more than 200 institutions in the United States and Canada.
