iwNetworks will bundle their gigabit and 10GbE OpenFlow switches with the Open SDN™ platform from Big Switch. iwNetworks’ bundled solution will provide customers with an efficient and cost effective approach to building OpenFlow and Software Defined Networking (SDN) applications.

Big Switch’s Open SDN Suite is built around the Big Network Controller, which provides a common data model and policy abstraction for all the network fabric elements. Big Network Controller creates a universal network abstraction by leveraging industry standards and open APIs, which enables universal programmability of the entire network with a single software application. Big Network Controller enables a broad range of network applications that are included in the suite, including Big Tap, a network monitoring application.

“Combining our OpenFlow switches with Big Switch’s SDN applications gives customers a means to add flexible, efficient, and cost effective OpenFlow and SDN solutions to their production environment. Providing considerable cost savings down the road”, said Bob Charbonneau, VP of Sales and Marketing at iwNetworks.
