Most recently, Energetics helped the WSCC and WGCC update the Roadmap to a Secure & Resilient Water Sector, which highlights the joint government and industry priorities and plans to improve the security and resilience of the water sector in the near (two-year) term and mid (five-year) term.
Energetics (energetics.com) also helped the WSCC develop the Water Sector Coordinating Council Strategic Roadmap in 2012. This roadmap identifies the security, resilience, and preparedness goals of the water sector and outlines the top priorities of the WSCC to achieve those goals over the next two years.
For each document, Energetics assisted Coordinating Council representatives throughout the entire roadmapping process, including the planning, facilitating, and documenting of multiple roadmapping workshops. Input from the workshops was synthesized and presented to the respective council working groups to aid in updating and editing the roadmaps. Energetics collected and coordinated comments from WSCC and WGCC members on the developing roadmaps through progressive facilitated discussions, resulting in the two final products.
The updated roadmaps build on the water sector’s accomplishments since the development of the 2008 Water Sector Coordinating Council Strategic Roadmap and the 2009 Roadmap to a Secure & Resilient Water Sector, which were also developed with assistance from Energetics. Periodically updating the sector’s priorities enables water and wastewater industry owners, operators, and strategic planning partners to address the most pressing needs of today as well as provides a revised common framework for focusing security and resilience activities to achieve a common vision.
Formed in accordance with the critical infrastructure partnership model of the National Infrastructure Protection Plan, the WGCC and the WSCC represent the government and industry portions of the public-private partnership to advance the security and resilience of critical infrastructure. The WSCC is composed of water utility managers and subject matter experts appointed by nine of the nation’s preeminent drinking water and wastewater organizations, including trade associations and research foundations. The WGCC enables interagency and cross-jurisdictional coordination through its membership of representatives from federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial governments.
