About The Sean Hanna Foundation
The Sean Hanna Foundation (seanhannafoundation.org) was established in late 2007 after the death of its namesake Sean Hanna, who was a victim of pediatric Hodgkin's disease after a fourteen-year battle. Sean's life and passing illuminated the number of needs that are left unattended to families that deal with a chronic illness. The Sean Hanna Foundation provides a comprehensive support network to families battling cancer through three multifaceted programs:
• The Educational Fund is dedicated to assisting students who struggle with cancer or related illnesses in their determination to maintain or continue schooling. The Foundation provides scholarships to applicants who have plans of achieving specialty or advanced degrees in light of their tremendous battles with health and the subsequent array of expenses required for treatment.
• The Research Fund offers seed money to research organizations that have made proven advancements in oncology. Primary partners are the Pediatric Oncology Experimental Therapeutics Investigators Consortium (POETIC) and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC).
• The Family Fund is a comprehensive program that exists to help families in need of funds or services. Families with a child battling cancer have an enormous escalation in expenses, and SHF is devoted to their mission of helping them maintain a healthy quality of life.
The Sean Hanna Foundation is a public charity registered in New Jersey, exempt from federal income tax and can receive tax deductible donations under section 501©(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
