This season's German soccer league sees 13 of the clubs on the road in MAN and NEOPLAN coaches. In them, the teams do up to 60,000 kilometers per year. The drivers are really put to the test: a tight schedule, traffic jams, the different conditions en route, and narrow entrances or exits demand their full concentration. In order to ensure that they bring their precious cargo to its destination, the coach drivers can do more than simply rely on state-of-the-art safety systems they are trained on how to handle the vehicles safely by MAN ProfiDrive.
FC Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, VfL Wolfsburg, Hannover 96, Werder Bremen, and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim all sent their team coach drivers to take the MAN ProfiDrive safety course at the ADAC Fahrsicherheitszentrum Nordbayern in Schlüsselfeld. In the theoretical part of the training, MAN's experts talked about the physical driving features and explained the vehicle technology. The participants learned how to handle different driver assistance systems. The knowledge acquired was then put directly into practice. On the ADAC test route the drivers were taught how to keep their coaches under control even in critical driving situations: water fountains, pressurized air blocks, and hazards that suddenly appear all require a swift response and correct handling of the vehicle.
"Knowing your vehicle well and handling it correctly in the event of danger helps to avoid accidents. It is these very skills that we teach in our seminars. This means that the clubs can not only count on being comfortable but also on being safe on the road," explains Rolf Lechner who is responsible for international coach training at MAN ProfiDrive.
In addition to safety, comfort is one of a team coach's key features for the clubs. The luxuriously equipped vehicles leave nothing to be desired. In addition to comfortable leather seats with adjustable footrests, they offer a galley and flat-screen TVs with DVD players as well as conveniences like satellite TV and WiFi.
