CarReadio is the second voice commanded iOS app release from the Angle, the makers of Earl. CarReadio is a departure from the average newsreader. CarReadio will aggregate various news, magazine, and website sources into channels by the use of voice commands. The content will then be read to the driver or active user with the best human sounding voices available. CarReadio is the first newsreader developed to reach millions of daily car commuters and active users - SAFELY.
Angle CTO Shane Johnson said; “CarReadio was built due to the overwhelming response to our first product, Earl. We have streamlined the functionality of CarReadio to make the app similar to Pandora. Except CarReadio is voice-commanded and reads textual content that the user selects.”
CarReadio will have thirteen channels including news, business, and sports that the user can add content too from over 450 sources. CarReadio will aggregate the content sources for each channel from newest to oldest and read the content continuously, just like a radio station. This is accomplished by one gesture and voice-commands.
CarReadio is also BlueTooth compatible and can be operated by the buttons on your steering wheel when plugged into your cars audio system. Angle’s primary goal was to make CarReadio safe for in-car use such as commuting and long trips. Biking and gym use were also considered when designing the app.
CarReadio requires a iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch that has a data plan or Wi-Fi. The app will be released through the iTunes App Store soon. There will be a free download with an in app purchase upgrade.
