About LOONG
Following a life-changing encounter in the midst of a typhoon in Hong Kong, ‘one of those days where everything falls apart and you question everything you’ve built your life upon’, Loong gave up his comfortable ‘penthouse apartment and sports car’ lifestyle to pursue his life--‐long dream to be a musician and singer-songwriter. A former Philosophy and Literature teacher at ACS Independent school in Singapore, ‘my life was trying to get teenage boys to discuss big questions with no set answers’, Loong felt challenged to be authentic to what he was sharing in the classroom on ‘living out and following the dreams on their hearts’. He thus set out on a journey to inspire his students by taking the steps to truly live out his own. Moving to London, Loong grew his craft as a performer and songwriter; from humble open mics (and even busking on the streets) to showcase gigs in prestigious venues and radio shows, while not forgetting his roots. ‘I recall once playing my interpretation of ‘Home’ in a very British pub on National Day and introducing it as a Singaporean folk song, the English lager drinking crowed seemed to love it.’ Following a successful release in the UK and Hong Kong, Loong returns to Singapore to release his debut official EP, ‘Finding My Sound’, in a series of showcase performances on the island.
