Building on its current success and popularity, Wine and Design has announced the opening of its newest franchise location serving the Bluffton and Hilton Head communities. The newest franchise is owned and operated by Cathy Tyson and located at 1536 Fording Island Road, Suite 103 in Hilton Head.
Tyson said her Bluffton/Hilton Head studio is building onto a rich offering of cultural opportunities including Broadway-quality plays at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina, the 120-member full chorus of the Hilton Head Choral Society, the vibrant arts culture in Old Town Bluffton, and the largest annual outdoor, tented wine tasting event on the east coast. Tyson said that the Bluffton and Hilton Head communities were an ideal place to open a Wine and Design studio since the natural beauty of the Lowcountry attracts artists and inspires creativity in everyone that visits or lives in the area.
“It’s been so much fun exploring the area and looking for, finding, and photographing all of the iconic images that abound here,” said Tyson. “We don’t just work here, we live here and can’t wait to become more involved and a part of the Bluffton and Hilton Head communities.”
Tyson has enjoyed a long career in the fitness industry as both an instructor and personal trainer. She was first introduced to Wine and Design by friend and Wine and Design Myrtle Beach owner, Janie Aldridge. Aldridge asked Tyson to be an artist for her South Carolina studio. Tyson agreed, taught one class, went home, and told her husband,“This was MADE for me.” The rest, she said, is history.
Wine and Design is a popular business that began in Raleigh, NC in April 2010. The studio offers clients an easy and fun approach to painting and provides participants all they need for a fun night out: canvas, cover up, paints, paintbrushes, and corkscrew. Attendees provide a beverage of his or her choosing and sit down for a two-hour painting session led by a local artist. First-time painters, aspiring artists, or self-proclaimed pro’s browse the studio’s website to find a painting they would like to replicate. Painting classes begin at $35. Tyson said that she wants her studio to be a place to gather with friends and family to enjoy creating in a fun and friendly atmosphere.
“Anyone who comes through our door should be prepared to relax and allow our talented, warm, and encouraging artists to guide them through the process of creating their own personal masterpiece,” said Tyson. “There are no mistakes at Wine and Design! Our team strives to create an environment that allows our guests to relax, have fun, and get their ART Buzz on!”
Wine and Design Bluffton is planning to mirror the format of its parent studio by offering date nights, paint your house and paint your pet nights, and booking private parties. The studio also plans to be very active within the community by hosting fundraisers and will offer patrons the convenience of hosting painting parties off-site with its “Wine and Design on Wheels” program. Children will also receive a creative outlet through specially-designed program for younger artists. Tyson added that she will also be adding several regional paintings that celebrate the area including paintings of “Daddy’s Girl (a famous Bluffton Shrimp Boat), the Harbour Town Lighthouse, the Seccesion Oak (a 350- to 400-year old oak tree at Secession Golf Club), May River Marsh, and the Old Sheldon Church Ruins.
Wine and Design Bluffton will operate Monday through Saturday from 6:30-8:30 pm. Children’s programs will be offered on Saturday mornings from 10:00 am to noon, and private parties can be scheduled anytime during the week. The studio will be introducing themselves to the community with a Grand Opening scheduled for Sunday, September 8th from 5:00-7:00 pm. For more information, call the studio at (843) 501-2122.
