The Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Central Valley gives parents and siblings of seriously ill children a “home away from home” while their children are being treated in Valley Hospitals. They provide laundry facilities, private bedroom/bathrooms, computer access, fully stocked kitchens, and activities to help alleviate stress. Each night 18 families from across the nation stay in the House for an average of 13 nights. "We see families from every walk of life experiencing every situation in the book. It is our goal and our hope that we make that traumatic time as easy as possible for them. Having fully stocked pantries and a soft place to rest is just one of the things we ensure for our families," said Family Services Coordinator, Janie Hernandez.
After a few months of empty pantries the House Staff realized they needed to do something to get them filled. They organized an event to bring awareness to the cause and also fun for the community!
On Saturday, August 3rd from 10a-2p they are inviting you to join them in a FREE CARNIVAL complete with live music, games, food, and fun for the whole family. All the public needs to do is bring in (5) food items for their pantries and they’ll be invited to join in the fun.
“Having the ability to make a meal for my family with items already at the House is such a blessing for us. We don’t have to worry about grocery shopping, we can focus on getting my son home,” said a house guest.
“The last month our pantries have been nearly empty because of an increase in families and decrease in donations. Anything people can bring to help us make our guest’s lives a little easier, is so appreciated,” said Volunteer Coordinator, Jonathan Munoz.
Photo and video opportunities will be available from 10:00am-2pm
