NewswireTODAY - /newswire/ - Munich, Germany, 2013/07/16 - MAN has received orders from China and Japan for a total of 35 dual fuel engines for LNG (liquefied natural gas) carriers. The value of the two orders totals about 100 million Euro.

Additionally, MAN Diesel & Turbo is to supply five MAN 51/60DF dual fuel engines for a LNG carrier being built by Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd. in Japan. The carrier, which has a payload of 182,000 m3, will be built at the Kawasaki Sakaide shipyard in the southwest of Japan. Delivery of the engines is scheduled for 2014.

Dual fuel engines can be operated with liquid as well as gaseous fuels. In gas mode the MAN 51/60DF engines reach considerably reduced emission levels and therefore already fulfill the requirements of the future emission standard Tier III of the International Maritime Organization.
