Pico Rivera, CA, United States, 2013/06/27 - Bay Cities has come up with its own sustainable version of the traditional clamshell. The cold seal BayPak™ removes a majority of plastic used in clamshells, and is made of recycled corrugate printed with water based inks - Bay-Cities.com.

It also uses 100% recycled RPET, which is much smaller than the old plastic utilized on clamshells, as it is used only to trap the product. By replacing plastic with recycled corrugate, the smaller baypak packaging reduces the constraints on our landfills by removing non-recyclable plastic from the waste stream. Both of these materials, the RPET plastic and corrugate, can be a reusable source. There is also more energy saving, less gas emissions, and no heat applied in the packaging process. The adhesive self-adheres with minimal pressure.
In addition to the sustainable packaging the BayPak™ is applicable to endless product sizes, shapes, weights, and retail environments. The high graphics visibility showcases your product without the glare of the clamshell. The BayPak™ is also cost efficient. Because there is no heat sealing equipment required, there is a vastly reduced tooling cost and price savings of 20-40%. The BayPak™ is faster to produce as there are no machine dwell times, easy changeovers, more production loading space, and a higher production output per shift. It is also a theft deterrent, like a clamshell, however much more shopper friendly. The BayPak™ is the choice to showcase amazing products in sustainable packaging.
