To eliminate interference and accommodate the launch and testing of the new Wi-Fi network, the Saskatchewan! Connected Wireless network in the Regina downtown will be turned down effective July 5th, 2013.
“The new system has been designed for an optimal customer and fan experience,” said Ron Styles, SaskTel President and CEO. “The first phase is scheduled to be completed by the first regular season game at Mosaic Stadium and together with cellular improvements will increase capacity by more than ten times.”
SaskTel is currently analyzing the introduction of a new leading-edge Wi-Fi network for SaskTel customers in high traffic locations in the province. Most existing Saskatchewan! Connected locations have very low usage and will not likely be included in SaskTel’s Wi-Fi deployment plans.
Saskatchewan! Connected is a wireless Internet service that is available in certain locations in Regina, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw and Prince Albert. Due to outdated technology and low usage, the remaining locations in Regina, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw and Prince Albert are currently under evaluation to be discontinued. The public can provide input regarding the service by emailing SCFeedback[.]sasktel.com.
