Turbosat, the European supplier of set-top boxes has selected the Antix Game Player and Antix Game Service for its new range of products. The Antix Game Service forms a major strategic component of Turbosat’s policy of best-in-class hardware and software solutions combined with premium services.
The initial product, the Icecrypt T2300 Receiver launches this week across Tesco’s 675 UK stores. Turbosat will deploy its units with the Antix service to its Tier One operator partners, retailers and major manufacturing partners, mostly in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Tomas Lo, the Chief Executive of Turbosat said,“Our initial focus was on the quality of service for consumers. The games launched and the content roadmap for the next year are compelling, while the ease with which consumers can download, install and pay for their services, the ability to share their games across other devices such as phones and tablets means that Antix is persuasive because it is successfully addressing the problems that consumers have been facing playing games on their set top box or on television.”
Francis Charig, Antix’s Founder, added,“Until the launch by Apple of the iPhone in 2007, I was repeatedly told that mobile gaming would never take off. I had argued that if the experience was fun, easy to use, easy to pay for and looked good, then of course consumers would play on their phones. I am now arguing the same about TVs and set top boxes. Antix is leading that transformation and we’re very happy that Turbosat, with its strong focus on meeting the expectations of the consumer and working closely with major manufacturers, retailers and operators, is pushing the Antix service so strongly.”
About Antix Labs Ltd (Antix)
Antix (antixlabs.com) has developed the Antix Game Player incorporating a consumer-focused distribution file format and service that makes games even more viral than music and video whilst still protecting the rights and the revenues of the developers. It enables consumers to copy, share, challenge and play with others not only via a service provider’s network but also off-network by means of wireless technologies such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Direct. Antix connects consumers across feature phones and smartphones, tablets, TVs, set top boxes, PCs and other devices even when a provider’s network is inaccessible, intermittent, slow or full as is the reality in home and on mobile across most of the world. The company offers the Game Player, corresponding tools, certification mechanism, optional white-label store and an optional game warehouse necessary to deploy a complete service offering. The Antix Game Service is being used as a core gaming component by major operators, broadcasters, device manufacturers and retailers across the globe. Headquartered in the Reading Enterprise Centre in Reading, England and with offices in America and Asia, Antix was founded by Francis Charig, a World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer.
