Mark Pearce has been promoted to the post of Corporate Director for Economic Regeneration and Tim Gebbels will take over as Corporate Director for Strategy and Communications.
Mark Pearce has been with Advantage West Midlands since its inception in 1999 and has moved from the position of Partnerships Director with responsibility for Birmingham, Solihull, Shropshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
His new post will give him responsibility for the policy areas of regeneration and economic inclusion, planning and transport, urban and rural renaissance, health, tourism and sustainable development.
Tim Gebbels was previously Chief Executive of the West Midlands Regional Observatory, a body which collects and provides the data and evidence used to drive policy in the region.
He will be responsible for the Agency’s contribution to regional strategies, including the West Midlands Economic Strategy, which is currently being reviewed.
His directorate is also responsible for communicating Advantage West Midlands’ policies and priorities to the public, partners and stakeholders.
John Edwards, Advantage West Midlands Chief Executive, said: “I am delighted not only to have full membership of the Corporate Management Team again, but also to be able to call upon two directors of such quality and experience.
“Both Mark and Tim are familiar with the work of Advantage West Midlands which will be particularly important as we set about reviewing the West Midlands Economic Strategy this year.
“The new appointees bring a wealth of experience and fresh ideas to the Agency and will make a major contribution to the economic development of the West Midlands in the years to come.”
Mark Pearce said: “Joining the Corporate Management Team at such an exciting time for the Agency is a challenge which I am relishing.
“I look forward to using my experience in delivery to benefit the wide and varied policy agenda for both the Agency and the West Midlands.”
Tim Gebbels said: “I am delighted to be joining John Edwards and the other members of the Corporate Management Team at Advantage West Midlands.
“I know from my work at the Observatory about the great work they are doing to lead the economic development of the region and I am very much looking forward to working with them to address the challenges that remain.
“The region’s profile, nationally and internationally, is critical to its ongoing economic success and I will be doing my best to ensure this profile continues to strengthen and that recognition of the advantages of the West Midlands as a place in which to invest, work, learn, visit and live continues to grow.”
