Video Arts, the world’s leading provider of video-based learning content, has appointed Colin Burgess to the newly-created position of Content Development Consultant. In his new role, he will oversee the company’s bespoke learning projects, working closely with clients to develop brand-fit, effective and engaging video, e-learning and m-learning solutions.

Video Arts has an established reputation for developing bespoke learning projects alongside its renowned off-the-shelf learning library. Recent bespoke clients include the British Council, Cargotec and learndirect. Colin will manage the growth in demand from clients wanting to tailor existing Video Arts content or create new e-learning content from scratch.

Martin Addison, CEO of Video Arts, said: “Colin brings 17 years of experience in TV and web production as well as a track record of success in creating interactive, digital content. His expertise and his understanding of how to engage people with e-learning content will enable us to offer an even better bespoke service to our clients.”

Colin joins from ILX, the technology-led learning and consultancy services group, where he was head of research and development. During his career, he has developed interactive TV content, e-learning content, apps and online media catalogues; created and managed over 100 hours of programmes for the Discovery Channel; developed local government training films and managed digital marketing campaigns for MTV, Nike and EMI.

He spent five years as a senior producer at the Central Office of Information, developing web-based communications resources and publishing guidelines on online video and digital media.

Before embarking on his career in production, Colin graduated from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and spent seven years in the British Army, latterly as a captain in the Irish Guards. He was promoted to major when he took a royal appointment to serve as equerry to the Queen Mother, a position he held for two years.

Commenting on his new appointment, Colin Burgess said: “Video Arts has a history of innovation and a strong reputation for creating memorable learning. I’m excited to be joining the company because no other provider produces training content that matches the production quality of Video Arts. I’m looking forward to partnering with clients who want to create an even more engaging user experience through bespoke content.”
