While working to maintain, grow, and attract interstate commerce in the Iowa City area, the Iowa City Area Development (ICAD) Group is partnering with the Technology Association of Iowa (TAI) and the University of Iowa College of Engineering for two upcoming events.
Tuesday, April 9, ICAD Group will help host a live video/audio stream from the 8th annual Prometheus Awards, live from Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Des Moines. The Prometheus Awards, hosted by TAI, have been established as Iowa's largest and most prestigious distinction that recognizes innovation in Iowa's high-tech industry. Starting at 6 pm., ICAD Group will show the ceremony live at the IC CoLab, 316 E Court in Iowa City. Light refreshments will be available and attendees are welcome to bring food and beverage.
Several Creative Corridor companies are finalists for the Prometheus Awards including MediRevv, SantosHuman, VIDA Diagnostics, Terpenoid Therapeutics and Involta. To date, simulcasts have been scheduled in Spencer and Iowa City and TAI is still planning other locations across Iowa.
Then, on May 10, ICAD Group is hosting a three hour afternoon networking reception in Iowa City to showcase fifteen senior design projects from the University of Iowa College of Engineering. ICAD Group and the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance helped to sponsor three of the senior engineering projects.
“We are excited to partner with ICAD Group and the local business community on these projects,” said Dr. Clifford Curry, Electrical and Computer Engineering Lecturer for the University of Iowa. “Our students are tackling real world issues in transportation, healthcare, robotics and personal safety.”
Among the featured projects will be a system for electronic patient check‐in in a doctor’s office, a database management system for the Ponsetti Clubfoot program, and a system to monitor semi-truck weight and activity for regulatory reporting.
More information will be released soon about the open house and networking event on May 10.
