While Windows Phone 7 lacked some critical device management features, Windows Phone 8 supports the important aspects of corporate device use. Capricode’s team has done exceptional achievement and only ten weeks after receiving Windows Phone MDM documentation from Microsoft the new features are here. SyncShield version 4.2 introduces a comprehensive set of mobile device management features for Windows Phone 8 devices, along with other interesting new capabilities.
Windows Phone 8 devices can now be provisioned with SyncShield. The first feature set covers primary features from all important management areas, such as security, policies and application management. Enforced security code, full device wipe, certificate installations and device encryption all ensure corporate data security while corporate data wipe and possibility to disable the SD card give BYOD options for the company. The Company Hub delivers company applications and recommended Marketplace applications as a catalog to the device, making it extremely easy for the end users to install all the applications they require for their work. Exchange account management is simple and SyncShield also directly supports Lotus Notes Traveller for Windows Phone 8, a feature already available for all iOS devices. SyncShield policies can be applied to Windows Phone 8 devices in the same way as other platforms.
Windows Phone 8 devices are enrolled straight from the device with an e-mail address. The system identifies the device and deploys all relevant settings automatically. The enrollment is very simple and automatically identifies the device and company, requiring minimum information from the end user. This simplified self-registration is now also available for iOS and Android self-registrations. The policies set for the self-registered devices and automatic company identification ensure that devices are treated according to the company’s mobile policy immediately after enrollment, no matter what platform the device uses or how it was enrolled.
Simplified self-registration is not the only new feature available for all platforms. The policies have once again been enhanced. Now policies can be used to automatically deliver settings and content without further monitoring, which might be obsolete in some cases. There is also a possibility to send a message to the end user immediately when the device violates a policy rule, so the user can take actions to correct the situation before alert is sent to the administrator.
SyncShield version 4.2 is a great package that all of our customers have been been waiting for. The next version of SyncShield will be released in June, stay tuned for more information!
