NewswireToday - /newswire/ - Greenwood Village, CO, United States, 2013/03/28 - Ciber has commenced a three-and-a-half-year engagement that will bring the City of Fort Worth, Texas, a comprehensive implementation of Oracle’s PeopleSoft applications for finance-related activities - CIBER.com. NYSE: CBR

The city is installing Oracle’s PeopleSoft Financials and Oracle’s PeopleSoft Supply Chain Management software, as well as Oracle Hyperion Public Sector and Budgeting. The new software replaces aging systems with limited functionality, and the upgrades will give city managers dramatic improvements in finance-related systems.

This implementation follows the city’s installation of Oracle’s PeopleSoft HR Analytics and Oracle’s PeopleSoft Global Payroll software. Ultimately, the upgrades will give city workers a consolidated platform for human resources and financial applications, which will provide timely access to business-critical information for better decision making. The software also leverages best practices and will help city managers ensure proper separation of duties and internal controls.

On the reporting end, the software will support development of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) submitted each year to the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). These thorough reports can earn cities GFOA’s Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting, and this is the public finance profession’s highest level of acknowledgement for technical proficiency.

To mitigate risks, Fort Worth plans to manage its implementation in three distinct phases that begins with implementation of core functionality modules, such as accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger, then move on to implementation of budget-preparation modules and, finally, software for managing capital projects.
