Hard bodies, paint and pipes will be center stage in Marshall, Texas April 26 28. Marshall Bike Rally 2013, to benefit Shriners Hospitals for Children Shreveport, begins early Friday afternoon and continues throughout the weekend.
With the historic atmosphere of downtown Marshall as the rally setting, hundreds of riders looking to show off their motorcycles, enjoy long rides under the hot Texas sun and raise money for one of the most prestigious children's charities in the country will gather.
Bikers will arrive during the afternoon on Friday for registration while being treated to music with outdoor afternoon concerts at Marshall's Telegraph Stage and vendor booths open for shopping. As the sun goes down, the night heats up with several fun and friendly contests among bike owners, the Best Paint and Best Engine plus the Loudest Pipe Competition all chosen by audience voting.
At 8 pm. the ultimate party band 8 Track will take the stage with their mix of classic musical selections. Marshall's many stores and restaurants will be open for browsing pleasure with extended schedules throughout the day and evening hours. Spirits will be available at Under the Texas Sun wine and gift shop all day and can be carried to the concert and contest locations throughout the streets of Marshall.
Saturday is a day full of bands, shopping and poker runs during the bike rally. A bike show will take over the streets of downtown Marshall during the afternoon, and bikers can show off another paint job, by participating in the best tattoo contest. The party continues with biker games on the historic courthouse steps and the poker run awards ceremony. At dusk, Dusty Rose will be center stage on Marshall's Telegraph Stage, to end the evening with music, dancing and fun.
On Sunday morning, all bikers are invited back to downtown Marshall for a blessing of the bikes. The weekend in Marshall promises to be a worthwhile street party with fun filled days and nights, bikes, music, contest, spirits, food and more.
The highlight of the weekend comes from knowing all the fun benefits Shriners Hospitals for Children Shreveport. The first hospital in the Shriners health care system, the Shreveport hospital combines a child-friendly environment with world-class medical care for children with a host of orthopedic and neuromusculoskeletal conditions as well as cleft lip and palate.
Bike enthusiasts can register for $35 for a single registrant or $60 for couples. The pre-registration fee includes a bike ride under the Texas sun, poker run events, games, and the bike show. Pre-registration also includes a rally shirt, official event pin and all concerts. Bikers will also be able to register on site for $25 per person. Persons who register on site will enjoy all events, contests, rides and concerts; registration begins at 10:00 am. Friday morning, April 26.
There is no charge for non-bike owners to enjoy the live concerts, visit vendors, or view the bikes as Marshall’s North Washington Avenue hosts this special event.
