Agfa HealthCare announces that Clinical Center of Serbia has implemented its DX-D 100 Direct Radiography (DR) solution. The DX-D 100 will be used for the hospital's emergency center in Belgrade, which is the busiest in Serbia. The Clinical Center chose the DX-D 100 because it offers ease of use, fast image acquisition, high image quality and maneuverability. In addition, the battery-powered system can work independently from the electricity network. The implementation was completed on February 19, 2013.

Best care, even for less mobile patients
The Clinical Center of Serbia is the largest hospital in the country, with 33 different clinics. Its emergency center has two clinics of its own and 300 beds, including 170 for intensive care. This makes it the busiest emergency center in Serbia. Before implementing the DX-D 100, emergency patients had to be taken to another floor of the center for imaging. To support the emergency center in giving the best care, even to the least mobile patients, the hospital decided to implement a new imaging solution.

The hospital chose to go direct digital, with long-term imaging partner Agfa HealthCare. "The DX-D 100 will be used for our most difficult patients," explains Dr. Zlatibor Lončar, Director of the emergency center. "We want to provide all our patients with the very best care and treatment technologies, and Agfa HealthCare's DX D 100 (agfa.com) will help us to do this. We will be able to perform examinations without patient movement. The DX-D 100 is easy to use, provides the images quickly, has much higher image quality than our previous system, offers a more efficient workflow and is independent from the electricity network. These were all key elements for choosing it."

Fast and reliable imaging for busy emergency center
Thanks to its ergonomic design, the DX-D 100 is easily moved and operated by a single person, for improved quality and efficiency of bedside imaging. It can be used with several DR detectors, delivering instant previews and leading-edge resolution for a broad range of general radiography X-ray studies.

The very short exposure time means images are available immediately and can be validated straight away after exposure. Higher productivity and image quality translate into lower cost per exam and higher diagnostic efficiency. The battery sets offer maximum autonomy and are charged via a standard power point with no special wiring required.

Potential for dose reduction
The DX-D 100 comes with Agfa HealthCare's gold standard MUSICA² image processing software, which has been specially adapted and tuned to further enhance the excellent DR image quality. Exam-independent, it ensures consistent image quality and high contrast detail, offering the potential for significant dose reduction. The DX-D 100 also uses the well-established and intuitive NX workstation, with its fully integrated touch screen, for fast image acquisition and a smooth workflow.

"We are very pleased that Clinical Center of Serbia has chosen to continue our successful, long-term cooperation, with an Agfa HealthCare DR solution," comments Hans Vandewyngaerde, Vice President EMEA region, Agfa HealthCare. "The DX-D 100 will be supporting the busiest emergency center in the country, demonstrating that our products can cope with our customers' highest demands. We are confident that our DX-D 100 will help the Clinical Center of Serbia's emergency center enhance the quality and efficiency of its patient care."
