United States based Church of Scientology opened spacious six-floor building branch in Berlin Germany on Saturday, reviving public debate in Germany, where it has come under surveillance and faced accusations of coercion. Scientology's German branch has rented a building on a busy street of West Berlin, raising significantly its international presence.
"Scientology is no church...Scientology is a commercial business enterprise and a sect," said Kerstin Griese, a federal lawmaker for the governing Social Democrats. "Scientology must not be allowed to lobby near the parliament and the government." he stated to an Associated Press Writer.
"Sect" is the common word used to name the organization in Belgium and France, no wonder why, sect emerged from Old French, from Latin secta, course, school of thought. Source: answers.com/topic/sect
In France, loads of links, websites and even blogs are relating stories 'True or False' on the Scientology's practices. Nicolas Sarkozy, UMP President to be officially declared UMP candidate for Presidential 2007 election to clarify his position on this delicate topic. Marie-Ségolène Royal as usual remains quiet on the subject but may come back with such topic during TV confrontations with the UMP candidate in relation to the 2007 election. Questions came when Hollywood actor Tom Cruise paid a visit to Sarkosy a few months ago.
"Fine with such opening even in France, Scientology is one of those "spiritual" profit-based organizations, but as for me and as a French Republican, Nicolas Sarkosy will have to tell us what are his plans if he is elected, otherwise I will drop an empty envelope on that very day!" says Pierre Vanier proudly waiving a French flag during a protest in the Charlottenburg District, West Berlin.
SCIENTOLOGIST is a collective membership mark designating members of the affiliated churches and missions of Scientology. For more trademark info, please visit scientology.org/en_US/feature/legal/
