Mr. Adams joins the firm from Woodhull Capital Advisors, LLC, a New-York-based fund manager focused on financing small and medium-sized companies. In his role at CFA, Mr. Adams will be responsible for raising capital for the firm’s growing clientele and for mergers and acquisitions transactions, among other duties.
Mr. Adams has more than a decade’s experience raising capital and investing in small and medium-sized businesses. Since 2001 he has formed and run private funds that invested more than $400 million in middle-market companies. As a founder and manager of Cedar Lane Asset Management from 2006 to 2010, and as a Managing Director of Octagon Asset Management from 2002 to 2006, Mr. Adams oversaw a broad range of debt and equity investments in varied industries in the U.S. and abroad. “I have always been interested in helping companies find the capital they need to grow,” said Mr. Adams,“and I am excited about pursuing that interest with CFA. Mr. Adams began his finance career as a corporate lawyer representing banks and borrowers at Shearman & Sterling and other firms in New York, where he practiced for 12 years.
Prior to law school Mr. Adams was a Legislative Assistant to Congressman John R. McKernan, Jr. of Maine, and worked for the National Federation of Independent Business on small business credit and other finance issues. Mr. Adams received a J.D. from Washington and Lee University in 1989 and holds a B.A. in History from Kenyon College (1981). He lives with his wife and son in Freeport, Maine.
