The 2nd Annual Females in Comedy Convention 2013(FICC) will have workshops and seminars taught by top comedy professionals in the business. In 2011 Flood founded the Females in Comedy Association (FICA) to provide educational tools, networking and resources for women in the male dominated comedy industry. This led to the launch of the Females in Comedy Convention (FICC), the first ever of its kind, which received overwhelming success with an impressive turnout from female comediennes from all over the country and sold out comedy performances. This coming April the annual convention returns with confirmed sponsor/host hotel, Marriott, and promises to be even bigger and better with a five days of activities and nightly showcases hosted by celebrity comediennes such as Kim Whitley, Cocoa Brown, Thea Vidale, Miss Laura and Luenell all at top comedy clubs in LA
Comediennes attending the convention will participate in panel discussions and classes with curriculum topics such as sketch comedy writing, PR/marketing, negotiating tactics, GYST Circuit/getting yourself together, health & fitness and defense training offered by sponsor/partner Divas n Defense™. Notable speakers on the roster are talent bookers, writers, coaches, including Greg Dean, Buddy Lewis, Karen Y McClain, Judy Carter, Miss Laura Hayes, Tina Graham, plus many more industry veterans. The convention program will be packed with entertainment and activities, including an honorary tribute recognizing and celebrating the life of Yvette Wilson who was succumbed by her battle against cervical cancer in 2012. Other worthy activities include a “Comedy Slam Celebrity Hoop Jam” with ticket sales benefiting the charitable organization:“A Nickel of Hope Inc./Hopes Girlz Club" which provides mentorship for inner city girls at risk. Hope’s Girls Club is a division of “City Lites Network”. Registration is still open for any aspiring and/or veteran female comedienne at femalesincomedyconvention for more information.
Partnership and sponsor opportunities are still available.
