KXLU does it again!
"In A Dream with Mystic Pete" started broadcasting two years ago, hosting a different guest DJ every Saturday night. The first was DJ Jesse Wright (Idiot Savant, Woogie Stage), and we have continued with Stephan Jacobs, Bluetech, Bia Bia, Henry Strange, Reid Speed, DJ Anne-Tyler, Beau Damion, Tony Smooth, Christos Kedras; and local collectives Take Back The Night (TBTN), PRYME TYME DJ'Z, Pocket Underground, Cruz Coalition, The Good Vibe, Radiobomb, Luminous Movement, and lots more stellar talent.
“I’ve had DJs on the show that are getting deserved national recognition. But what about the 50 other genius level DJs I’ve featured, who are unknown outside the underground scene. Why isn’t there more radio showcasing this brilliant talent? Thanks to KXLU for, once again, having vision. You’d think that with millions of fans, commercial radio would have noticed this pool of remarkable new music. Europe has whole stations devoted to EDM [electronic dance music].” Mystic Pete
Mystic Pete welcomes VOLTAGE CONTROLLED ORCHESTRA (VCO) [DimMak] for his second anniversary show in February.
The duo of VCO, Matzerath and Bais Haus, met at Steve Aoki's Dim Mak Records, and teamed up to reignite their affinity for fusing the classics of analog production with "some good ol' fashioned dark-ass techno". Within the first months of cultivating their sound, they've worked from the shadows delivering remixes to the likes of Autoerotique, Delta Spirit, Azari & III, Tommy Trash and Proxy, among them.
Mystic Pete (mysticpete.com) is a radio host, author, cellist, and music and video producer.
KXLU is a non-commercial, educational station broadcasting from the Westchester campus of Loyola Marymount University in L.A., and has has played an essential role in breaking musicians and bands - from Jane’s Addiction to the Beastie Boys, Guns n’ Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana, Beck, Dengue Fever, Death Cab for Cutie and the Silversun Pickups.
