Homeforswap, an innovative online home exchange, recently launched a new website to connect homeowners by allowing them to swap vacation homes. The website, homeforswap.com, has created an online portal where thousands of homeowners can connect in a secure and credible environment. The new website boasts increased functionality and site navigation allowing for a streamlined user experience.
The number of people going on home-swap holidays is set to double to 3.2 million in 2012.
You can search for homes on the site without being a member. After signing up, you can send secure messages, arrange a swap, and sign a digital contract to confirm the details, all of which are up to the users to decide. Members are young professionals with well-situated city apartments from New York to Beijing, families with children in spacious houses or apartments, both in the country and in metropolis areas. Used to traveling, they want to share the experience with their children. The third group of home exchange enthusiasts on the network are the silver agers. (Semi)-retired and with more freedom to travel, many of them prefer to exchange their second homes in attractive tourist sites.
Research shows that a typical American family of four would hope to spend an average of $2,500 on a vacation. Yet Homeforswap members have access to amazing properties for only a small registration fee.
Saving money is a large part of the appeal, but it is by no means the only one. Homeforswap’s family members report that, rather than cramped hotel rooms, they get space, access to toys and plenty of insider tips on amusing the children – and that ‘living like a local’ far outweighs the typical tourist experience. A whopping 70% of Homeforswap’s list of available properties are child-friendly, sleeping six on average.
The security of knowing that someone is taking care of your home while you’re away is reassuring – for owners and insurance companies – and owners with gardens and pets often agree mutual care which negates the need for costly house sitters.
A sneak peak at the stylish homes on offer reveals a five bedroomed villa in the Hamptons, which would normally rent for $15,000 per week in peak season, but is completely free for Homeforswap members. A sprawling Spanish house in Ibiza boasts a pool, sandpit and climbing frame in its rambling gardens and access to beaches, typically renting for $4,500 in peak season, members have free access.
