This expansion is part of an initiative that was first announced in 2010, aimed at providing High Speed Internet service and 4G coverage to 28 First Nations communities in Saskatchewan.
“We have always believed in the importance of all Saskatchewan people benefitting from having access to the most powerful and extensive communications network available,” said Don McMorris, Minister Responsible for SaskTel. “With increased access to technology, residents of these communities will be able to take advantage of numerous educational and business opportunities that were not available to them before.”
“We are very excited to be able to expand this world class network to 8 more First Nations communities,” said Ron Styles, SaskTel President and CEO,“and would like to thank our partners, Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada, the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations (FSIN) and the Saskatoon Tribal Council for their ongoing contributions to this important project.”
SaskTel High Speed Internet service provides a superior user experience over dial-up, allows simultaneous phone and online access, unlimited internet access and downloading, spam and email virus filtering, 24/7 helpdesk support and installation- all included for one low price.
