A new business is opening in Barrie on November 17, which caters to single-serve coffee lovers. Java Cup Co., located at 112 Saunders Road will sell over 700 different coffees, teas and other hot beverages. In addition, single-serve home brewing systems like Tassimo and Keurig will be available for purchase.
Owner Patrice Shennette is a former Barrie resident who returns to the area after 25 years. An entrepreneur with over 20 years of retail and franchising experience, Shennette is excited to open the business and contribute to the growing local economy.
“At our house, we used to make a full pot of coffee in the morning but it never really satisfied our individual tastes and I often ended up throwing some out”, states Shennette. “Once we discovered the world of single-serve coffee, we loved it and knew we were on to something great.”
According to consumer market researcher NPD Group, single-serve coffee systems have seen one of the largest coffee segment growths in the last two years. As such, the new business fills a niche in the Barrie community.
Top name brand coffee brewers such as Tassimo and Keurig will be available at the location as well as hundreds of T-Discs, K-Cups and Pods for use in those systems. Customers will enjoy the opportunity to create their own ‘variety packs’ consisting of endless combinations of flavours.
“It’s all about choice”, states Shennette. “By opening a unique store specializing in single-serve coffee, we hope to provide an outlet to meet the local demand for this growing market.”
The new business is committed to creating local jobs with new hires already in place for the opening and an anticipated demand creating up to 20 additional employment opportunities in the coming year. Customer service will be a focus of the business with a commitment to educating consumers on how to choose the best single-serve brewer for them and how to keep costs down when using them both at home and work. To this end, the store will feature a “Try Before You Buy” policy to ensure complete customer satisfaction is achieved.
Furthermore, local businesses can easily register in-store and online to join the “Java at Work” program, which will provide discounts as well as larger quantities for local businesses to assist them in meeting their employees’ coffee and tea needs.
