Popular Kalamazoo, MI, hockey team Kalamazoo Wings (K-Wings) has partnered with Kalamazoo dog and cat rescue group Animal Rescue Project for their Pup of the Game program. At every home game during the 2012–3 season, Animal Rescue Project will introduce a homeless, adoptable puppy or dog to the K-Wings game audience.
A rescued dog that's available for adoption will be in Wings Stadium to greet the public along with Animal Rescue Project volunteers. They will be located at.a table between sections 17 and 18, from when the stadium opens until the beginning of the third period. The public will be able to interact with the dog and learn more about Animal Rescue Project and event sponsors. The dog and rescue information will also be presented on the stadium's new video scoreboard.
When special jerseys are auctioned, Animal Rescue Project can be selected as one of the charities to benefit. The first auction is on October 27.
Animal Rescue Project's participation in the program was made possible by generous sponsorship grants from dog daycare service Camp Fido Dog Daycare, pet boutique and grooming salon Bark's 5th Avenue, and wireless fencing solutions provider Canine Containment Services.
"We're pleased to be associated with K-Wings, which is an immensely popular local team," said Jim Di Loreto, Animal Rescue Project president. "This partnership provides a great opportunity for our volunteers to introduce our adoptable dogs and puppies to the community. We'd like to thank K-Wings and these outstanding pet-related businesses for facilitating our participation in Pup of the Game."
K-Wings has helped over a hundred homeless dogs find homes through their Pup of the Game program. Many Pup of the Game dogs and puppies find their forever homes as a result of being introduced to the public at the game.
About Animal Rescue Project
Animal Rescue Project (animalrescueproject.org) is the largest dog and cat rescue group in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and is the only rescue in the City of Kalamazoo to operate a full-service, no-kill shelter. Most of the dogs and cats they rescue come from pounds, where they had little hope of survival. Animal Rescue Project provides medical care, houses the animals in foster homes or their shelter, and matches them to responsible and loving new homes.
