With the NHIT Week theme: One Voice, One Vision: Transforming Health and Care, HIMSS Oregon will hold a Tech Talk entitled “Coordinated Care Organizations ~ Where Oregon is Now” which will take place Thursday September 13th, 5:00pm - 9:00pm at OHSU’s BICC Building in the Gallery, 3181 SW Sam Jackson Park Rd., Portland, OR 97239.
An expert panel has been announced which will discuss the progress in implementation of CCOs in Oregon, and describe how technology can support coordinated care. Panelists include:
• David Labby, MD, Interim Chief Medical Officer, Health Share of Oregon;
• Lyle Jackson, MD, Chief Medical Officer, AllCare CCO;
• Cynthia Ackerman, RN, Government Programs Officer, AllCare CCO;
• John Kenagy, SVP & CIO Legacy Health;
• Cindy Becker, Director Clackamas County, Health, Housing, and Human Services;
• William Hersh, MD, Professor and Chair of the Department of Medical Informatics & Clinical Epidemiology in the School of Medicine at OHSU;
• Dana Hogan, Director, Applications Development, Providence Health Plans, Healthshare of Oregon.
“Unfortunately, services such as mental and physical health care are usually offered separately, in fragmented and uncoordinated ways, so that patients have gaps in their care,” stated Brian Ahier, Health IT Evangelist at Mid-Columbia Medical Center. “To help address this problem five new Coordinated Care Organizations (CCO)s will begin serving Oregon Health Plan members in September, with a total of thirteen CCOs having been approved so far. These organizations will be technology enabled to help improve care and lower costs. Come learn about these important developments and help HIMSS Oregon celebrate National Health IT (NHIT) week.”
The event on September 13th will bring HIT practitioners together to discuss where Oregon is headed with health care IT, and will officially be conducted as a part of HIMSS’ National Health IT Week. Governor’s Kitzhaber’s Office has officially proclaimed September 10-14, 2012 National Health IT Week in Oregon as well. The briefing is open to the public.
“Our participation in National Health IT Week highlights our organization’s commitment to ensure health information technology is integrated, interactive, interoperable, and intelligent to provide the best patient outcomes, said Mark Fromuth, HIMSS Oregon Chapter President. “By working together we can leverage the technology to promote for the betterment of our healthcare system.”
Cost: $15.00 for HIMSS members and Students; $25.00 for non-members.
