AmiCOUR IP Group today announced that its client Qgenisys is selling its Wideforce™ Suite of three United States patents. The intellectual property encompasses internet Crowdsourcing, cloud worker, and Labor-as-a-Service (LaaS) platforms. This emerging, high growth industry provides remote workers, often called “cloud” workers, to a variety of enterprises globally. Workers engage via crowdsourcing websites and web-hosted workflow applications to complete requested tasks. The software code used to run the websites and workflow applications plays a major role in managing the remote workforce, typically automating most, if not all, of the entire cloud labor process.
“The crowdsourcing industry is growing by leaps and bounds,” explained AmiCOUR Executive Vice President Tony Escobar, whose expertise includes consumer and customer database software. “Last year, the number of workers who registered with crowdsourcing websites doubled to over 6 million workers. This industry has created one of the largest task-ready labor forces nearly overnight, and its growth rates are impressive. Cloud labor headcounts and revenues will continue expanding at more than 50 percent per year into the foreseeable future, and new crowdsourcing websites and LaaS platforms are expanding the variety of remote worker jobs managed via the web.”
The portfolio is represented exclusively by AmiCOUR’s brokerage team and includes early patent coverage with filing dates of 2001, preceding the dramatic industry growth of the last few years. The portfolio’s core patent covers the method, system, and software related to a system for automatically managing remote “cloud” workers through a network such as the Internet. Additional patent coverage relates to how cloud-based workers are recruited and the best approaches for training remote workers, all key requirements for successfully managing new cloud-based workforces.
“We look forward to selling the IP assets of Qgenisys to a successful bidder, including its patents and theWideforce trademark,” stated Scott Bechtel, AmiCOUR IP Group CEO. “Like every successful high tech segment, as the crowdsourcing industry matures, the dominant firms will begin to rely on strong patent coverage to help drive their success, protect market positions, and deliver real value to their investors.”
