Wasabi Media Group (WMG), and internet-based publishing company, celebrated its fourth birthday this year by presenting a $500 scholarship to a graduating senior. The scholarship was given to a student in Litchfield, NH at Campbell High School’s Senior Award Night on June 6th.
To qualify for the scholarship, the senior needed to be in the top 20 percent of his or her class and complete a 500-word essay answering the question: “It is the year 2026; what major accomplishments have you achieved since college graduation?” Once the essays were read, three members of the editorial team at Wasabi Media Group reviewed and scored the essays, combined scores, and chose a winner. Wasabi Media group will continue to present scholarships to graduating seniors on the company’s birthday as an annual event.
Michele Pesula Kuegler, the editor-in-chief of Wasabi Media Group and resident of Litchfield, stated,"As the founder of Wasabi Media Group, I find each birthday of the company to be an exciting occasion. Rather than keeping the celebration an internal event, I like to be able to share it with others."
Wasabi Media Group has given out other scholarships in the past; last year the company ran a social media contest to determine which charity would receive WMG’s birthday donation. The charities in the running were Share Our Strength, ShelterBox, Reading Tree, and the Cancer Research Institute. The winner of the donations was ShelterBox, a company focused on disaster relief and aiding those who are affected by natural disasters.
Wasabi Media Group’s birthday donations and scholarships have been very successful in the past. The company plans to continue the tradition of giving back on its birthday every year.
