B Corporation and Green Plus certifications are third-party rating systems that verify the company is living up to their promise of corporate environmental and social responsibility.
Certified B Corporations are a new type of corporation for businesses that incorporate social and environmental practices into their daily operations. Companies must meet a rigorous assessment process established by B Lab, the B Corporation certification body. Springleaf Strategies originally became a B Corporation in 2009 and achieved a greater score at recertification in 2012. Currently, there are over 500 Certified B Corporations across 60 different industries.
Green Plus is a two-year member program designed to help small businesses with triple bottom line education, networking, and recognition of their successes. The group promotes people, planet, and performance as their central theme in assisting small businesses advance towards certification. Currently, there are 300 businesses and organizations in the Green Plus network, 65 of which have achieved certification.
