AmiCOUR IP Group today announced its representation of three new heavy vehicle technologies developed by Ireland Design Company LLC. The patent pending equipment mounts on the undercarriage of tractor-trailer rigs and trailers to suppress blinding road spray during rainstorms while providing aerodynamic fuel savings for freight carriers and owner/operators.
“The spray suppression technology with its reference designs is ready to move directly to commercialization,” explained Jim Burgess, Executive Vice President at AmiCOUR IP Group. “The expertise of Ireland Design’s inventor A. Forrest Jackson will be part of the licensing offer to a manufacturer. With two million heavy trucks capable of being fitted with this affordable safety technology, we are genuinely excited about this project. Almost three hundred thousand new trailers are produced annually in the United States.”
The road spray suppression system can be incorporated into new trailer design or as an aftermarket-installed system. Owners and operators will also benefit from fuel savings to offset the cost of the new system, and in many cases pay for the cost entirely. The Ireland road spray suppression system not only provides increased driving safety for motorists and fuel economy for carriers, but the wheel skirts are an environmentally friendly outdoor advertising platform.
“Turbulence driven road spray is blinding to fellow motorists, contributing to trailer drag and additional fuel consumption,” Burgess stated. “When the road spray reduction skirt is installed, it also streamlines the tractor and trailer to reduce wind drag, saving valuable fuel while increasing driving safety.
AmiCOUR will also represent Ireland Design Company’s patent pending locking bolt assembly, originally designed to make the rain spray skirt easily removable for service and maintenance. The unique safety fastener has a broad spectrum of applications and is being offered as a separate license to serve these additional markets. The novel bolt design cannot vibrate loose, solving a decades old problem for heavy industry and even consumer product assemblers seeking to keep components securely fastened.
The Ireland Design road spray suppressor system is also an economical advertising platform which lets motorists know the advertisers who are willing to sponsor highway safety and energy conservation. AmiCOUR’s CEO Scott Bechtel explained,“The spray suppression skirt delivers eye level advertising to passing motorists, and can be visible day and night. Ironically, by suppressing road spray, the advertising message will be just as visible and even more compelling every time it rains.”
