The Institute of Videography, which promotes professionalism in video production, has a challenging accreditation process. In order to achieve Associate Membership, members first have to pass online exams on various aspects of camera craft, lighting, audio recording, post production and legal issues to prove they possess the core competencies of video production. Meanwhile, full accreditation is not awarded until after samples of work have been submitted to an assessment panel.

While an assessment score of 70% or more is sufficient to gain Master Membership, Jim was awarded over 90% for his video, which means he has been recommended for Fellowship of the Institute.
