Keeping in the spirit of the Crane corporate policy of acting as good stewards of the local community, Crane Plastics has donated more than 20 pairs of its proprietary Spraydown aerodynamic mud flap products to the Mid-Ohio Foodbank for use in their truck fleet. Crane Plastics has also committed to continue the program and provide additional free flaps for any new equipment or routine maintenance needs of the current trucks in their fleet. The Spraydown flaps will take the place of standard mud flaps and with their unique design and technology, contribute a 1-3% fuel savings to the Foodbank, as well as a 40% reduction of road spray creating a dramatic improvement in safety for both the drivers and other motorists.
The donation, and subsequent replacement program, will extend savings to the maintenance of the trucks as well. Since Spraydown reduces the road spray residue "hot zone" on the trailers and trucks, corrosion maintenance and cleaning costs are also reduced. Each dollar saved translates into an estimated extra eight lbs of food the Mid-Ohio Foodbank can purchase for needy families in the area. Six sets of flaps have already been deployed in the field, with the rest of the fleet is to be outfitted as maintenance schedules permit.
