Motivational speaker and comedian Michael Lifshitz is proud to announce his “Inspire the World” campaign. Michael was born with a disability called Multiple Congenital Musculoskeletal Abnormalities, a malformation resulting in Michael being a below knee amputee and having his right knee and both hips surgically constructed. “Eat your heart out Lee Majors.”, quips Michael. As a result of his disability, this real life Bionic Man wears an artificial leg, walks with a cane and in later years, started using a wheelchair. Michael defied what many would have thought possible for a person with a disability, becoming a chartered accountant and obtaining a MBA from Edinburgh Business School. Michael has successfully started and sold his own accounting and financial planning practices, and today, in addition to continuing a successful career in accounting and finance, Michael uses motivational speaking, comedy and writing to not only show others what people with disabilities can accomplish, but to inspire others to face their own challenges. As Michael says: “We all face challenges in life….mine just get me better parking spots.”
Michael’s “Inspire the World” campaign begins with the launch of his one man show “Conquer Your Mountains” at the 2012 St-Ambroise Montreal FRINGE festival this Friday, June 15th, 2012 at 21:30 EDT. This comedic look at living with a disability, and conquering the challenges associated with it, will inspire the audience to conquer their own challenges. “Too often”, explains Michael,“people allow the speed bumps that pop up in the road of life to appear as mountains. I have successfully conquered the mountains associated with my disability. My goal is to share with others how I have done it, so they can conquer their mountains too, no matter how insurmountable they may be.”
The show will take place at Club L’Espagnol du Quebec, 4388 St. Laurent Blvd in Montreal. Where the inspiring the world component comes in is that the June 21st show will be videotaped and released online following the Fringe festival, and will be used as the basis for a future DVD.
