Serco employees with college-age children were invited to submit applications for one of ten $5,000 scholarships to contribute to tuition costs of the college of choice. Applications were awarded based on three criteria: academic excellence, leadership achievements, and service to the community. Serco has selected the following ten awardees of the 2012 Serco Scholarships:
Nathan A. Cardenas is majoring in German at Wright State University in Dayton, OH. He graduates next spring. Nathan’s father is Alexander Cardenas, an Acquisition Management Specialist in Serco’s Logistics Business Unit.
John T. Chavis III is majoring in Chemistry at the University of Maryland in Baltimore County. He will be a sophomore this fall. John’s father is John Chavis, Jr., a Project Manager in Serco’s Strategy, Learning and Human Capital Business Unit.
Grace M. Johnson is majoring in Music Education at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX. She graduates next spring. Grace’s mother is Celeste M. Diaz Ferraro, a Family Program Specialist II in Serco’s Defense Personnel Services Business Unit.
Madeline R. Johnson, Grace Johnson’s sister, has not yet decided where she will go to college, but plans to major in Architecture. Madeline’s mother is also Celeste M. Diaz Ferraro.
Shannon M. Kitchen plans to major in Biological Sciences at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA. She will be freshman. Shannon’s mother is Stephania Kitchen, an Accounts Payable Administrator in Serco’s corporate office.
Emily S. Kugel plans to major in Biomedical Engineering at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. She will be a freshman. Emily’s mother is Vicki Kugel, a Specialist II in Serco’s Logistics Business Unit.
Elizabeth K. O’Hara is majoring in Political Science at Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, VA. She will be a sophomore. Elizabeth’s father is John B. O’Hara, a Software Engineer III in Serco’s Business Process Services Business Unit.
Olivia M. Pfeifer plans to major in Oceanography at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, ME. She will be freshman. Olivia’s father is John W. Pfeifer, an Air Traffic Control Specialist in Serco’s Transportation and Infrastructure Business Unit.
Lauren Rasch plans to major in English at Loyola University in Chicago, IL. She will be a freshman. Lauren’s mother is Jody Rasch, an Engineer III in Serco’s Business Process Services Business Unit.
Kelly B. Zafman is majoring in Health and Societies at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. Kelly’s father is Gregory Zafman, a Systems Engineer V in Serco’s C5I Business Unit.
