Fix and Flip tells the tale of desperate Realtor Tony Rutton – when his sales dry up he buys an old heritage building and tries to fix it up, using his family and friends as free labour. But with an incompetent crew and a fiendish rival trying to thwart him every step of the way, the quick fix and flip soon turns into a comedy of errors.
Up and coming Windsor-based director Gavin Booth will direct, and the feature will mostly be shot in the Raindance Windsor-Detroit building downtown, located at 709 Ouellette, largely before its extensive renovations get underway. The film is another strong sign of the rapid growth of the movie business in the Windsor/Detroit area.
Says writer and producer Macnab-Stark,“The story is one that will strike a cord with millions of homeowners who have had their own adventures and mishaps fixing up a property, and reflects the popularity of shows like This Old House and Bang for Your Buck.” Trenhaile adds,“This is yet another sign of the rapid growth of the film business locally. International film training organization Raindance have recently opened up a centre in Windsor, and once the film is finished, the building will serve as a hub for the creative arts in the Windsor area.”
Macnab-Stark has previously written Rabid for Planet Four Films, Hands of The Savior & Hope for Love for indie producer Dan Garcia, and the Iris Warriors, dance performance, choreographed by the UK’s National Ballet, which is due to be performed in London (The Royal Albert Hall), New York, and South Africa in 2013. It is also due to be filmed as both live action and animation.
