May 1 is National Coaching Day. Still, millions of people think coaching just has to do with sports.

Together, Eder and Zwierzynski share some tips for working with a coach effectively during National Coaching Day:
1. Be open. “Sometimes a coach will say something that you can be resistant to for a variety of reasons,” says Solo-E.com founder Zwierzynski. “This person is an expert in what they do so having an open mind about what they offer and are asking you to do really helps.”
2. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. “Even if you have an open mind, sometimes you will need to ask more questions either to clarify or to share why you feel uncomfortable,” says Eder, the Time Management professional. “Asking questions helps your coach help you!”
3. Results are up to you. According to Zwierzynski,“it’s as simple as this: if you don’t do the work your coach is asking you to do, you won’t see the results you want.”
4. The proof is in the pudding. Eder notes that it’s in the implementation of what you discuss with your coach that the best learning can take place. “Try things out. Experiment. Don’t be afraid – and remember, it’s a process!”
5. Be grateful. “Openness and appreciation can help reframe every experience you have as positive,” says Eder. “When you come from a place of gratitude, you can embrace your mistakes – and that way, you learn so much more from your coaching experience!”
