Warsaw, Mazowieckie, Poland, 2012/04/25 - ATM S.A., has implemented an innovative environment monitoring system based on SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) software at its data centers: ATMAN and Thinx Poland, as the first company in CEE - ATM.com.pl. WSE: ATM

The system implemented monitors and records, on an ongoing basis, a few thousand parameters of operations of the data center in three key functional areas. Parameters such as cooling air temperature, door opening monitoring and energy power and consumption are monitored at the level of a single server cabinet. In the colocation room, the system monitors, inter alia, humidity, voltage detectors, air conditioning systems and water detectors.
At the same time, at the level of the whole data center, the system precisely supervises flows in the power system, power grid analysis tools and standby power supply system switches, as well as monitors the operations of UPSs, power generators, chill storages as well as fire systems and fire flaps.
Today, continuous 24/7 monitoring covers 9,000 variables. By the end of this year, next modules and sub-systems are going to be connected, which will result in an almost doubling of the number of parameters monitored.
The system detects alarms using active and passive alarm thresholds, offers an option for the trend analysis and report generation, as well as records the history of events.
Collection of the data from various production sub-systems in a single application allows for precise control of the current state of the data center, as well as early detection of potential threats. The implementation of the system gathering such diverse data may significantly reduce the service staff’s response time in the case of potential breakdowns. Monitoring of individual parameter trends also allows for planning of the extension of the whole system in line with the growing demand for individual resources.
“Our intention is to provide clients with access to this state-of-the-art tool in the nearest future, which would enable them to independently check security and stability of the environment of the data center to which they have entrusted their resources,” said Maciej Krzyżanowski, Vice President in charge of operating matters at ATM S.A. “This is a unique implementation in this part of Europe and, ultimately, this solution is going to be a standard in the facilities of ATM,” added Maciej Krzyżanowski.
The system implemented is based on the industry SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) standard, and is currently used primarily by the ATMAN network management center. ATM plans to make an interface for viewing selected parameters and events available to clients colocating their devices in server rooms of ATM S.A.
This is the first such implementation in a Polish data center, unique taking into account the scale and comprehensiveness of monitoring of services provided to clients.
ATMAN Data Center and Thinx Poland colocation facilities, belonging to ATM S.A., are state-of-the-art data centers, designed in accordance with international Tier III guidelines concerning data center standards, and hold the ISO/IEC 27001:2005 information security management system certificate and the PN-EN ISO 9001:2009 quality management system certificate.
