Sarasota, FL, United States, 2012/04/20 - Deals are harder to find in recovering Florida market, according to Sarasota real estate broker.
Real estate broker Kathy Marlowe of Kathy Marlowe & Associates Realty was recently featured in the Sarasota Herald-Tribune in an article titled,“4 Questions for a Pro: Counteroffers Show Market is Recovering.”
Marlowe spoke about the need for out-of-state buyers to become aware of the rising real estate prices in the Florida market. The article, which appeared Saturday, March 31, in the newspaper’s Real Estate supplement, recognized her as an expert in foreclosures and short sales.
“Many buyers come from elsewhere, and they don’t know what’s happening in our market,” Marlowe said in the article. “They think there are lots of properties in Florida to choose from; they think they can still buy at 50 cents on the dollar; and they’re surprised when they get here that that’s not the case.”
She continued: “We were the first area to go into the bust and the first one to come out of it…we’re breaking new price points. Whether they’re going to retire tomorrow or five years from now, now is the time to buy.”
She attributed the rising real estate prices in Sarasota and Manatee counties to the desirability of the area: “We have the most gorgeous bayfront, the most beautiful beaches, and the arts and culture… You have a little bit of everything – a small-town feel with a lot of the things you can find in the bigger towns.”
