ESRI (UK) has won a contract with Watford Borough Council to provide a corporate Geographic Information System (GIS) solution, that will help the Council improve the efficiency of business processes and transform service delivery to its 80,000 citizens.
The system, which includes desktop and Intranet solutions, will enable the Council to integrate its back-office systems and create a single corporate database of spatial information for easier access by each of the Council’s departments. ESRI (UK)’s spatial database technology and ArcGIS will be integrated with the existing CAPS UNI-form and LAGAN CRM systems.
The solution will also incorporate ESRI (UK)’s LocalView Intranet, a web and database technology which makes map based data accessible to all council staff via the Intranet. LocalView Intranet enables staff to access and share data with ease, leading to better decision making, earlier identification of trends and ultimately improved services for citizens. Go-live of LocalView is expected at the end of 2006, with plans to launch an Internet version of the LocalView solution to the general public early 2007.

Its technology also closely integrates with the CAPS spatial database solution already up and running in the Council,” commented Lieven Hermans, Head of Business Information Services at Watford Borough Council.
