Leeds, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom, 2012/04/12 - Bradford-based Ortho-Care may be celebrating its 30th year in business but the company has its sights set firmly on the future following its move into new state-of-the-art, purpose-built premises in Shipley - OrthoCare.co.uk.
The relocation signifies just how far the company has progressed since it was formed by directors Richard Garford and Kelvin Scott in 1982. In that time, Ortho-Care has progressed from a two-man operation to become the UK’s largest independent manufacturer and distributor of orthodontic products, employing 41 people. As well as supplying products such as braces and dental wires to orthodontists across the UK, around 15 per cent of the company’s sales are now from export.
The new 25,000 square feet headquarters, situated next to Shipley’s Salt’s Mill, provides a home for the company’s sales and admin functions as well as warehousing and distribution facilities, conference facilities, a canteen and a gym.
Director Richard Garford explains why the company undertook the major task of building its own headquarters: “We were keen to find a building that would not only accommodate our growing business and support our future expansion plans but one that would also provide a comfortable working environment for our staff. Having failed to find a suitable site that met all of these criteria, we decided to build our own”.
In fact Richard and Kelvin were so keen not to lose any staff due to the move, they even checked journey times during rush hour to be sure that the new premises would be easily accessible. The site which is close to Saltaire and Shipley’s bus and train routes was ideal.
The new building has been designed to be energy efficient and stringent new energy performance and carbon reducing standards have been implemented in its construction.
The move to the new premises will allow Ortho-Care (orthocare.co.uk) to further strengthen its export activities and will support the company’s plans to offer training, conferences and workshops for orthodontic practitioners and post graduates.
Richard concludes: “With 30 successful years behind us, this investment will secure our position as the country’s leading distributor of orthodontic products and allow us to provide a range of exciting development opportunities to the orthodontic community.”
